Googledocs

I had fun working with my group using Googledocs.  It seemed very efficient because we were able to brainstorm and edit our ideas without straying from the final goal.  The communication that our group had made me worry less about the presentation not getting finished.  I was able to share my ideas without worring about being too controlling (I hope!)  and it felt good to see that some of my ideas were used in the final result.

  1. I liked google docs too. I feel like it was an easy way to collaborate, although there were still emails going back and forth, there weren't the huge attachments taking up all kinds of space.

I tried using Google Docs with my team at school (created a document and sent it to them) and they freaked out a bit on me, even though our district is moving in this direction and they've been exposed to it. I think it really is only effective if you have users who buy in.

  2. It would be interesting to try it with students versus teachers. My guess is they would have no problems with it. The only problem I've seen is if they are using it at the same time they become fascinated with watching others edit the same document and it becomes a bit of a battle to change things.

For teachers, it may almost be easiest to not analogize it to Word but to talk about it as something completely different so they don't try to do everything they can do in Word.
